Physical Education is a beautiful opportunity to develop the whole child. Children are entitled to a rich, broad and balanced PE curriculum. Through PE, children should develop behaviour and attitudes that will benefit them throughout school life and beyond.

Implementation.
At St Bon’s we use the PE Hub scheme, which is a skill based, games orientated, progressive approach to delivering a broad and varied PE curriculum. Each child no matter what background or ability can access quality, exciting and fun PE lessons.
We also value the place competition has within the PE programme and enable sporting competitive opportunities for all children in KS2 within the year group.
For those more confident children they are given opportunities to compete at level 2, against other schools and even level 3, at County level. We have a high standard of sporting achievements at netball, football, athletics, cross country, rugby, swimming and tennis.

Top up lessons for year 6 to ensure every pupil can swim 25m and perform a safe self-rescue.
Impact
At St Bon’s the children will leave our school having had opportunities to experience a huge range of sporting activities and will have a love for sport as well as an understanding of the importance of physical health and wellbeing. They would have developed their skills in all areas of PE and been given the chance to improve skills and go on to further their love for PE at secondary level. We provide opportunities to compete at school level through sports days and during health and fitness weeks, as well as against other schools in football, cross country, netball, cricket, athletics, rugby, swimming, golf and many other sports. Every child in KS2 is given this opportunity.
We make sure all our competitive teams have been trained and prepared for all competitions and we are so proud of our reputation as they often qualify for County finals and even at national levels too, especially in the ESSA swimming event.
We offer a wide range of sporting after and before school clubs. The numbers of these of these attendees is rising again after Covid and often all clubs hold a waiting list. Some clubs are run by teachers and some by sports coaches in order to offer a range for all abilities throughout the school and offered to every year group.
We have achieved the School Games Mark gold award for the third year running and will be working towards the platinum award this year.
We are very fortunate to have made links with many sports clubs in the local area, Bristol Penguins Swimming club, Crossbow Netball club, Bristol Bears and Red Dragon Martial Arts.
We are so proud of the sport that takes place at St Bon’s and the progress our pupils make.
